We love this coffee for lots of reasons. First of all, we love drinking it! And we've grown deeply attached to the community it comes from. The farmers who produce it are our friends. The area has two daycare centers that needed funding, so we started contributing to them. Our small contributions have had an enormous effect on the families, the community, and the coffee itself. Mothers of the village help pick coffee, which has doubled the incomes of many families and helped alleviate an acute harvest-time labor shortage. And as it turns out, the better the coffee pickers are taken care of, the better the coffee.

The Roasterie Air-Roasted Coffee is a specialty coffee roaster that has been owned and operated in Kansas City, Missouri for the past 25 years. The Roasterie still believes in partnering with farmers at origin, in mutually beneficial direct trade relationships - allowing the farmers to get much higher prices for their coffees than they would with other trade systems. Those beans are then roasted using a convection air-roasting method instead of the more traditional drum-roasting method, to ensure superior consistency and a tastier, smoother cup of coffee.
